Election Reflection

I am just human

In the sand a line is drawn
Two separate opposite universes
Two extremes so different
But I am human
I think human
I act human
I do human
I’m not bad for being human

The trip     the stumble     the fall
All at once
No lapse of time
No explanation
No reason
It just is because I am human
I live confusion
Uncertainty     abstract     multi-dimensional
Upon multi-dimensional
Events called life

So clearly defined
By the one not living mine
Not living yours
A tapestry woven
Meaning so vague
Transparent
Self-serving
Even as I walk past
The grotto in my mind

Pure     beautiful     perfect
The other side of the line
No matter what I try
No matter what I do
I am still human

* In Honor of President Barack Obama

The morning after

How amazing it would
be, wonderful in fact
if what was invented
was a pill for
the morning after an
election in which the
losers could take and
get over the fact
their candidate did not
win the election. How
amazing it would be,
wonderful in fact if
this pill also ended
anger and animosity and
the burrowing desire to
sling insults and use
language which only divides.
How amazing it would
be, wonderful in fact
if this pill also
made the mind and
spirit clearer to see
the glaring difference between
the two candidates, allowing
reason to scream loud
and clear that the
right one was elected
by the voters believing
in President Obama’s vision.
How great is America!
