I have always been fascinated by time. Time to me has always taken on many different dimensions and forms. I have also been equally fascinated with how time is measured. I think what fascinates me the most is no matter how much we try to control and influence time, in the end time moves onward untamed. We may think we have mastered time, but the days and seasons always pass.
Lately I have really looked at time from the perspective of all that has passed in my lifetime. Fortunately for me, I feel like I have come out on the plus side in terms of good things happening to me. This is equally humbling to me. I realize I have had little if anything to do with my good fortune.
But back to time, and specifically time passing. Perhaps at my age, the looking at, the reflecting on and the realizing how much time has passed takes on a newer, deeper meaning.
We often ask the question, “Where has the time gone?” We sit in the present realizing the past was not all that long ago, and we anticipate what the future holds. We try to balance time as best we can, but in the end time balances us. It is in this amazing position of balance that we realize time is always moving along unabated. It is here in this delicate balance that we find the only way and the healthiest way to live is in the present.
December is upon us. We have past the time of Thanksgiving and are entering the Season of Life. We may not always understand time and the cycles of change, often trying to control them with time pieces and calendars, but in the end time passing and the Seasons are most perfect!
My fascination with time at my stage of living centers around and appreciates the very moment. What I have gained a greater appreciation for is the realization that nothing is as valuable, as important as right now!
Rushmore Academy wishes everyone the most blessed of Holiday Seasons! Take the time to breathe in all that is good, and to share all this goodness with everyone you meet!
