Colander v. Sponge

Be it colander or sponge you decide
By your words and action you will confide

A colander all perfect and symmetrical holes
A sponge so imperfect pays a heavy toll

A colander is selective with what passes by
A sponge gathers all regardless of why

A colander separates and passes its claimed waste
A sponge gathers and holds without making haste

A colander says all the right things two times a year
A sponge breathes truth every day so all will see and hear

A colander looks all shiny and pure
A sponge looks like it needs a cure

A colander separates and judges all
A sponge is there to pick up those who fall

A colander claims it believes what it is told
A sponge sees these claims as lies so old

A colander acts all righteous and holy
A sponge only serves the down and lonely

A colander acts as if it knows all about Christmas and Easter day
A sponge knows it’s never about justice but loving all in every way

A colander becomes rusted and dented living a life of deception
A sponge is washed like all sinners cleansed and no rejection

Be you colander or sponge the choice you make
The sponge is always real the colander always fake

Colander it means nothing to say “He is risen” one day a year
Sponge knows all too well your claims are not what they appear

Colander you profess you have God’s truth to share
Sponge simple sponge knows like false prophets you need cleansing and care

Colander or sponge please remember actions always profess louder than what you say
Young innocent lives are taking in your every action and way

Colander there is time for you to change although it is never known how much more
Sponge makes the choice inviting all with respect and dignity to walk through the door
